Ponte Vedra: A Family Trip

Here is a suggested one-day itinerary to experience the highlights of Ponte Vedra, Florida, combining outdoor activities, iconic sights, and local dining. We lived here for several years and hope that you’ll enjoy it, too.

Morning: Nature and Beachcombing

  • Sunrise at Mickler's Landing Beach: Start your day with a beautiful sunrise at Mickler's Landing, a popular beach known for its picturesque views and a great spot for finding shark teeth. The coquina sand has a unique, dark, and hard-packed quality.

  • Explore a Nature Reserve: Head to the Guana Tolomato Matanzas reserve, which offers extensive trails for hiking, bird watching, and exploring the local ecosystem. Just know that you’ll want to get there early because it has limited parking.

Afternoon: Golf Culture and Shopping

  • Visit TPC Sawgrass: Even if you don't play, a visit to the legendary TPC Sawgrass Course is a must for golf enthusiasts. You can take a free tour of the Mediterranean-style clubhouse and see the famous 17th island hole.

  • Lunch and Shopping at Sawgrass Village: Enjoy brunch/lunch at Nineteen at Sawgrass (reservation needed) or one of the many restaurants in the nearby like Aqua Grill.

Evening: Waterfront Dining and Relaxation

  • Sunset Views and Dinner: For a relaxing end to the day, have a waterfront dinner with scenic views of the Intracoastal Waterway.

    • Recommended spots:

      • Eat outside over the St John river at Barbara Jeans on the Water.

      • Valley Smoke BBQ: Provides delicious slow-smoked BBQ in a beautiful waterfront setting.

  • Evening Entertainment: Check out the schedule at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall for potential live music or other events to cap off your day
