Pittsburgh, PA: A Family Trip

1-Day Pittsburgh Family Itinerary

Morning

  • Panoramic Views (Duquesne Incline): Start your day on the historic Duquesne Incline. These cable cars offer breathtaking, must-see views of the skyline and three rivers, serving as a perfect introduction to the city. Make sure to get ice cream at the top at DiFiore's Ice Cream Delite, our kids loved it!

  • Science & Exploration (North Shore): Head to the Carnegie Science Center. Kids can engage with interactive robotics, explore marine life, or visit the Highmark SportsWorks.

Afternoon

  • Lunch & Local Flavor (The Strip District): Travel to the Strip District to experience the bustling, eclectic market. Grab a famous, iconic sandwich at Primanti Bros., a Pittsburgh staple known for putting fries and coleslaw inside the sandwich.

  • Wildlife or History (Options):

    • Option A: Visit the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium for world-class animal exhibits (including Kid's Kingdom).

    • Option B: Explore local history at the Senator John Heinz History Center, which features interactive exhibits for children.

  • Visit the colorful, kid-friendly Randyland in the Northside.

Tips for Families:
